Star Wars lego

Nate is really into his star wars lego, its quite clever how they have reinvigorated the brand with little star wars lego movie clips. The not so great thing is nate wants the lego for much older kids and to build them is quite tough even for me! I have decided to stick to the lego of his age group, its like an extension of his puzzles I guess....

So he took his last red packet and bought this space ship. He then built a museum or rather displayed his lego guys on the floor and wrote, "Nate and Ike Museum" on the floor (I think they built a museum in their classroom as part of their module this semester). I moved in one of the lesser used book shelves in Ike's room and now they have some display space. Wonder how long before this space ship becomes a pile of lego pieces.

Which reminds me I need to find a system to store these pieces or a tray of some sort to put them in. Max's mom in SA had a few made... I am thinking those high end jewelry trays may work as well.

I have started them on Tang poems, after the success with the Chinese New Year greetings, even the kids are happily repeating after me on the way to school, verse after verse of poems... I don't know too many so I will need to brush up as well.

Bullet

I had to bring Bullet to the vet today, he has lost 7kg but seems alot perkier now. He had been vomiting daily but was able to take small amounts of food. His blood tests were ok so its not his liver... his vet has recently taken a course on chinese traditional medicine and so bullet is now also on some dog chinese medicine.

Here's some interesting plants, yellow flowers flowering from a trunk and wasabi root. The sushi chef refused to give me the head to grow because he uses it to marinate his.... soy sauce!

School starts again!

aaaaah! says mommy. Here are some pics of the boy's latest activities... Nate has a certificate for learning the jewish alphabet. He will learn about Purim this sunday.

He has spent the bulk of his chinese new year red packets on Star Wars lego, which I think has done a great job of reviving the lego brand. Well the boys have started drawing on his walls, nate did him with two lasers. I think we will let them draw on their own walls and not stump their creativity.

Here is Ikey drawing with Chloe on a board. Yesterday he broke out into a big rash just like nate a year ago and getting the same symptoms.

Today we went to see jin's new baby, guess who is the confinement lady? wendy! had a very yummy dinner. I should have taken a picture of the baby all bundled up and to tighten it a knot tied at the end.

CNY 2010

This is the year of the Tiger... Roar! So far I have seen the following corny sign of "wishing you a pawsperous new year".

The boys had a great performance of saying their chinese new year sayings, impressing everyone at the CNY gathering, nate eager and spurred on by his performance (often yielding 2 red packets instead of one), was totally wiped out at the end of CNY lunch and napped. I thought he may have the capacity and ability to count his red packet money this year but it looks like maybe next year... as such he got 1/3 of the money to buy his lego toys and the rest has gone to mommy tax... well I think we will open him a bank account.

We went to visit my grandma's gravesite as well. There was this strange prehistoric plant that started "podding". Here are pics of Terry's coconut tree... the yellow dwarf, he harvested about 10 of them and the kids had a great time tossing them into the swimming pool and seeing them float, we all had great coconut drinks! yum!

It was ike's lucky day as he got to inherit a lot of trains and tracks from his older cousin...

KL - CNY eve...

They boys have been swimming alot, Ike can stand in the pool but did not realise the change in depth and was under water for a bit, drank some water in the meantime. I think he may get the hang of swimming soon... but he is getting to brave and going into the water on his own. Another lecture tonight for him and I think I will have to force him to take swim lessons!

Loren is here since yesterday, today we took the boys to the Petronas Towers science center. I have been snacking and I think I may have gained 2 kgs on the CNY goodies.... uh oh!

KL Feb 2010

We've been here a few days and its been action packed.... I am so glad I brought Olivia along, it feels alot more relaxing than any previous trip as she does their meals and their bath time... I can also leave her with the kids at the play area and get stuff done.

I went into my granddad's old house... we still have alot of his original furniture, that s quite good news, including old trunks that they must have taken from China.

They boys have had 2 days of play areas, swim with their cousins and lots of stimulation, ike is pooped after lunch and takes a nap. Nate crashes out for a good 12 hours.

Here's a picture of a tree in a neighbourhood, they had to chop the middle section to make was for the wires to pass thru...

These are pics of Ike before leaving singapore.

Off to KL on Monday

The boys have been on a week of holiday, I survived this by playdates alternating at Yang Ping's house and Lilin's place. Two more weeks to go. I plan to drive to KL on monday, am taking olivia with me as I will have meetings in KL and some work cataloging the other stuff in my granddad's home, like PJ's, furniture etc. Looks like even stuff like that the Cartoon Museum may have interest.

So Singapore is gearing up for CNY, Nate had not noticed these kumquat plants before and now they seem quite intrigued by it. There is a house down the road from us that likes to dress up their home, over Christmas they had cherubs hanging on the tree, with CNY they have paper pineapples and these two large foam oranges... wonder what happens when it rains.

The pic with nate looking silly is from last week when we went to pick loren up from the airport. We got there early and took a sky train ride as well.

Took the boys to a new fish n chips place at the botanical, finally after a year I find the perfect spot to feed them, they have pizza's too and its such a nice environment, today they had this glass with moss in it as the table decor. I like it...

Will report from KL after this... 8 days till CNY... the boys are well geared up with their chinese greetings for a hongbao killing.
