Succulents in bloom

These aloe type plants seem to bloom around winter when water is scarce, the yellow blooms though bloom in summer.

I have replanted my vege box for a winter crop of vege's. I felt quite rushed when planting, I had to pull out the old crop, soften the soil, add worm castings then plant the trays of vege's, in the meantime while hoeing the soil, I don't realise I developed a big blister (ow!). Ike wakes up while I am planting, so I don't get to save all the worms from the castings but at least I have followed my new growing principles, if all works out well, my tall leeks will form the middle section, followed by ornamental cabbage (in purple and white, edible) then beetroot and rocket (which is quite expensive here).
