Fujian - Day 2

We were taken to see an area full of statues, the weather is very cold as a cold front hit the area and we all packed for 10 degrees higher. This area is well known for stone carvings and their biggest export is to Japan… for the gravestones. For miles every 50 meters they place a statue…

We hit the road on a bus and head north, it is an estimated 4 hour ride but with stops etc it takes about 6 hours.

The highways are not like Malaysian highways where there is a nice shoulder to stop and the kids can pee… there is practically no space to stop here. When we do make a stop, there is a Mc Donalds and as dinner would have been late… Ike discovered the correlation between McD’s and a hamburger and is now trained to pee in a bottle.

When we get to Xiapu, it’s a tiny place, the hotel is not bad, there was a small fruit stall that I could load up with banana’s, apples and dried persimmons. Which was good too as the dinner was late and we decided to skip and have the kids bathe and sleep. They had an apple before sleep. Good thing too apparently the gang ordered turtle soup.
